My primary work as a personal speaker’s agent is only beneficial to the tiniest sliver of those who speak. The overwhelming majority of those who inquire about representation are not yet at the right stage of their paid speaking journey to benefit from the services of an agent. SPEED PASS: If you have high visibility on Insta or LinkedIn (100k+ active followers), or 1M+ followers on any social media platform, and/or if you are releasing a highly anticipated business non-fiction title in the next 12 months – those are assets that can amplify speaking success.  You likely should have professional representation and I’d love to explore how my work could be a profitable, turnkey, fun option for you to consider.

CAVEAT:  Reaching out to agents too early is the most common mistake I see — before you’ve arrived at the majority of those milestones outlined in my article.  Agents add an accelerant to broaden your reach for speaking opportunities, but you have to have something that is HOT and attracting attention and well paid speaking invites BEFORE you ask an agent to consider representing you.  They work on commission and have aspiring speakers approach them all the time – they want to work with someone who is on the precipice of greatness and who they see have the potential to vault into the rarified air of the $25k – $50k – $100k+++ opportunities.  If you are having a hard time attracting speaking invitations now, it is NOT time to approach professional representation.  It is far more likely that you need ADVICE and CANDOR from someone who knows the business of paid speaking (Hello! See above!) and zero in on your Category of One, vs. playing the field ‘wide and shallow.’
