SPEAKING TOPICS: (back)
Clutter and organization affect all areas of our personal and professional lives. Peter can readily tailor a presentation or seminar to your audience’s specific needs and situation. Some of his most widely requested topics are shown below; however, feel free to let us know if there’s another angle you’d like Peter to focus on.
NEWEST TOPIC: The New Consumer: The Pursuit of “Less”, Personal Freedom and Lasting Happiness
Peter Walsh is known as Oprah? ?rganizing Guy?and with five books, a weekly radio show, and a new television series about to launch, there isn? an organizing problem Peter isn? willing to tackle.
In addition, Peter has become the voice of people who feel that they?e acquired too many things, bought into too many empty promises, and now feel that they are not as happy as they? like to be.
These people are realizing they need to make changes in their buying behaviors. In fact, Peter helps his audience see that for many of us, we?e lost our way when it comes to acquiring goods. The idea that we can acquire more happiness simply with the right purchases is increasingly under fire. The mentality of ?eeping up with the Joneses?is out. More is not better and people are beginning to believe it. Whether people have been forced to consume less due to the economy, or are realizing that they?e suffocating in their own over-stuffed homes, Peter helps us understand that consuming less and in a more mindful way is a huge part of the solution we?e all looking for.
His message has an impact far greater than that of just individual consumption, too. He reinforces the point that what we do as individuals affects not only our homes, but our communities and, ultimately, our planet.
Peter looks at what it means to buy well-priced and well-made products- to focus on true ‘quality’ vs. simply ‘quantity.’ Through specific examples, he walks us through the impact that mindless purchases have on our crammed homes and over-burdened psyches, our economy and the world? resources. Consumers are increasingly aware that their purchases have far reaching and often devastating consequences. Peter also helps corporations understand that their future depends on providing products that are solution-oriented and offer far reaching benefits. While price is certainly important, true personal happiness is becoming more and more important to potential consumers and companies that can offer both will have a strong competitive advantage.
